Knighted!

I don't normally blog about work much, for a variety of reasons, but I am really quite excited that my boss got a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. He's already an FRS, which to those in the know might be at least as big a deal, but in terms of public recognition the knighthood is obviously a huge issue.

Of course it would be foolish of me not to acknowledge that this is probably good for those of us who work for him, too. I am quite sure that anything like this is good in a number of ways which I need hardly spell out here. But, self-interest apart, it's jolly exciting news, and well done Nick! :)

PS God save the Queen! (a Smalle Flourisshe of Trumpettes shall Here be Sounded)

Quite!

He's on the Beeb and everything - was the big main story on the Health page all weekend.

I say gosh chaps - just looked at the URL Becca sent and the BBC's photo is actually MY photo!

Sadly they've blown it up from a smaller one so it's not in the prime of condition - but it's still my photo. (Gets out trumpet, plays National Anthem again.)

I rather think you need a credit for the photo then... email them!

Very kind of you Miff but actually I don't think they do photo credits - I don't remember seeing any on news stories, anyway. Plus even then I wouldn't want a credit unless they used a better version so it looked good - it's a bit rough for me right now.

On the other hand, I did write in and get them to spell "Preventive" correctly in our name! :)

My comment is that I am very very proud of my son although he made me cry with Helping Dad.

Well thank you for that. My own knighthood cannot be far behind. Oops sorry about the poem - seems to have that effect.
