Harry Filmers

I went out to walk round the block during my very late lunch hour yesterday, as I felt that my brain was turning to cottage cheese. (The break in lunchtime concerts till September means I need to make a conscious effort to get out of the building and get some fresh air sometimes, not just vegetate in our [admittedly very pleasant] common room.)

On the way out I met my friend Treasa and walked round towards Farringdon with her, then southwards round the block and back through the square.

The said square was full of film-related stuff - lighting trucks and so on. In the front garden of the former Carthusian monastery site, some lighting was set up and filmic-type people were doing filmoid-type stuff like eating sandwiches and drinking coffee, but with enormous verve you understand. When I got back onto our site I found signs asking people not to park over near the post-monastery's (rather gorgeous) Tudor buildings because of the filming.

I popped back in for the camera and went over there and this is what I saw. It looked like quite a lot of lights to me, but then what do I know? A nice security/production guy told me it's a comedy feature film. He also told me the title but sadly I have forgotten it: all I can remember is that it is some sardonic reference to friendship, something like "Friends Like These" or "A Friend In Need" or whatever. No doubt when it comes out I will remember and then we can go and see it and look for familiar buildings - what fun! (Edit: see second comment below - it is actually "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People") Here, I suppose we will be looking - if it has not been edited out - for a scene in which the Tudor corridor is seen with bright light streaming in each window ... should be nice.

Obviously I am really just a media-struck teenager. But we knew that already, correct?

PS In case you are wondering, the usage "Harry [Noun]ers" has nothing to do with J.K.Rowling's hero, and indeed predates him by decades if not longer. I will explain at length, or even at shortth, if I ever find a spare life in which to spend some time.

Aha! I was just watching Jonathan Ross and he interviewed the very wonderful Simon Pegg, and Pegg was talking about a forthcoming film he's in: How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, and that of course is the title I'd forgotten. It is a wonderful thing having an elderly memory, as far as I can remember. So watch it when it comes out and there's the Charterhouse!
